Our mission is to provide significant and educational outdoor experiences for low income and culturally diverse youth in Arizona as well as
provide safe, professional and educational outdoor experiences for families and adults.
Every trip will be led by a guide that is Wilderness First Responder trained as well as CPR and AED trained. Additionally, all of our guides have at least 3 years of experience and undergo additional training on safety and evacuation procedures in each area they guide. Where needed, guides are also provided InReach GPS beacons to ensure communication in the event of an emergency. Safety is among our top priorities, and we take it very seriously.
From our specific customer service training to our polo shirt dress code and clean, safe Sprinter vehicles, we aim to impress. Bucking the rugged “desert dirtbag” aesthetic, we hold ourselves to a higher standard of quality, safety and appearance. We understand the trust you are putting in us to create a safe, fun and memorable experience, and we will go above and beyond those expectations.
We are committed to giving back to our local community. As a local teacher for years, I was startled by how few of my students had experienced the amazing opportunities for outdoor recreation in our area. Inspired to change that, AO is committed to providing scholarships to low-income and culturally diverse youth to get out and explore the local outdoors. In addition, as an LNT Master Educator, we are committed to the principles of Leave No Trace, environmentalism and conservation. To this end, we conduct service projects in the areas where we operate.
Meet the team that makes Adventure Outside possible!
Otto grew up in Tucson Arizona where he fell in love exploring the outdoors. After studying to be a teacher at the University of Arizona, Otto taught for 5 years in a local public school where he started an “Adventure Club” to help get local youth outside. In the summers, Otto would guide youth backpacking trips in Yosemite National Park and would eventually move up to help run one of the largest youth nonprofits and guide companies in Yosemite National Park. While Otto loves the Sierras, he always felt a pull to return to his home state of Arizona and start his own guide company and youth programs.
